Patrick and Angela  Clode
My husband is Patrick Michael Clode and we have been trying to trace his family which originated in North Devon and the villages of Hemyock and Clayhidon. There were also members of my husband's family in Wellington,Somerset. We have a photo of the family store which was a Butchers or Fishmongers. It was taken in the early 1900's as it shows an early automobile outside the store. The name above the store is Alfred Clode & Son.

Paddy (as he is known) was born in Perivale, London in 1939 and his parents were Cyril and Eileen Clode. Cyril was born in Acton, London in 1915. Cyril's parents were Alfred & Alice Bartlett Clode. Alfred was born at 67 High Street, Battersea on 16/November/1891.His parents were James & Elizabeth Clode. James was a Master Butcher possibly from Weston Super Mere. They married 30 September 1878 and were living in Acton, London in 1879. They had a large family of sons, we believe.
My husband and his father, Cyril, had no siblings.

We have lived in USA for the last 20 years and are US citizens. It would be interesting to trace the descendants of Alfred Clode's brothers (or indeed Sisters if any existed).

The guy in the picture looks very like my husband when he was young so we feel that it must be a relative. It would be neat to discover the links to this gentleman.
Please feel free to place the photo on your website. We may get a clue from somebody who recognises the store and /or the owner.

Update

I have recently discovered that the Alfred Clode depicted in the above photois not, after all, a direct ancestor.  The shop was located at 17 East Street, Taunton, Somerset in the early years of the 19th century. This family of Clodes also had a store at 3 North Street, Taunton.  They were fishmongers. I will be happy to supply more information to anyone interested in this branch of the Clode family.
